State Senator Joel Anderson presented Senate resolutions to the two nurses that serve the Capitol community, Jennifer Hatfield and Christine Varner, on Monday, May 7 during floor session.
In celebration of the National Nurses Week (May 6 – May 12), Anderson authored Senate resolutions for Hatfield and Varner, and included all 40 Senators in the state legislature as co-signers.
Both Hatfield and Varner have nearly 30 years of experience, and last year alone, they handled 4,338 clinic visits to their office in the Capitol building. They gave 150 flu shots, and there were 56 emergency calls. In addition to assisting visitors, the Capitol nurses also teach CPR classes, coordinate blood drives, and hold health and safety meetings for the Senate.
