California State Senator Joel Anderson will speak at a peaceful protest organized by Falun Dafa practitioners in northern California outside the San Francisco Chinese Consulate on Friday at 11am. The protest will be focused on condemning the interference by a foreign power, the Chinese government, in California’s legislative process and encouraging bi-partisan support for Senate Joint Resolution 10 in the legislature.
Last week, the Chinese Government sent a letter to California Legislators saying Anderson’s resolution, which condemns the Chinese persecution of Falun Gong practitioners, would threaten the relationship between California and China. After the letter was written, SJR 10 was shelved in the Senate Rules Committee by Senate leadership and hasn’t been allowed to come to a vote on the Senate floor.
Falun Dafa teaches truth, compassion, and forbearance that strengthens the physical and mental health through meditation. Due to fear of losing ideological control of Falun Dafa practitioners, the Communist government banned the practice in 1999 and Falun Dafa practitioners have since been subjects of persecution. Compelling evidence exists that Falun Dafa prisoners of conscience have been the source of the dramatic increase of organs for transplantation in China, which was Anderson’s motivation for introducing SJR 10. SJR 10 received bi-partisan support in the Senate Judiciary committee and is co-authored by Assembly members Adrin Nazarian (D-Sherman Oaks) Cristina Garcia (D-Bell Gardens), Tom Lackey (R-Palmdale), and Randy Voepel (R-Santee).
