Jim: I’m a member of the Grossmont Union High School District Board, I’ve been on there for about 3 years now. I’d like to say that we do a pretty good job of training our students in things related to government. We’re good at telling people about the legislative, executive, and judicial branches of government. But one things we can’t teach, and I don’t think can be taught, is how important service from legislators can be to both constituents and to government agencies.
Sen. Anderson: When Jim Stieringer attempted to get $10,000 returned from State Controller, the process stalled for months. I was pleased to get his call so I could help him get the money promptly returned to the classroom.
Jim: At that point, Senator Anderson’s office became aware of our problem he and his staff did intercede on our behalf and very quickly obtained the $10,000, which even today is being used to help educate the 22,000 students in our district.
Jim: We really appreciate Senator Anderson. We appreciate his staff. They do not simply shine people on or try to hoist them off to other people. They vigorously pursue it to an end, and in our case it was a very good end to which we are appreciative.
