David: We celebrated our 49th wedding anniversary in May, so I surprised my wife with a new car. Well, our grandson is 14, and he’s gonna be driving in a couple years, so I wanted to keep her car for him. So I went to a storefront in lakeside where they deal with DMV stuff for a fee.

I said, “I wanna go take this vehicle and go to planned non-operation status and just park it.”

And She looked at my registration and said, “Oh, you can’t do that. You can only do that one month before your registration is due to two months after.” That was like 6 months away, 5-6 months away. She said, “You just to have to, you know, that means you have to have insurance on it.” I said, “That can’t be right.”

I didn’t know where to go. I thought, I’ve met the Senator before, so I sent him an email through the website.

Text: David received a call from Senator Anderson’s office and explained his problem to the Senator’s Constituent Affairs Specialist.

David: Maybe the next day or two days, I’m not sure which, she called me back and said, “Here’s the solution, here’s what you have to do, you go fill this paperwork out.” And it solved the problem just like that.

I had a problem, another problem with Franchise Tax Board.

Text: David wasn’t getting his tax refund from the state even though he filed his taxes on time.

David: So I got back on their website and tried to find the status of the refund, and it said, “We don’t recognize you.”

I know what to do!

Text: David called Senator Anderson’s office and explained his problem.

Honestly, it’s the truth. Three days later, the refund showed up in my bank account, and that’s the truth. You know, if you have a problem with a government agency, don’t sit on it. Contact the Senator’s office. You can email him, you can call him. You will get help for sure.
