Anderson: Appropriations Committee Passes "Single Greatest Threat to Dreamers"

Monday, March 13, 2017

Senate Bill 54 passed the Appropriations Committee hearing today with 5-2 vote. Anderson, who has been called a “leading anti-sanctuary voice,” expressed his concern.

“SB 54 continues to shield deportable rapist and child molesters serving as felons in our prisons. SB 54 is the single greatest threat to Dreamers’ physical safety and risk of deportation,” Anderson said.

A clip from Anderson’s press conference last Monday with Senator Jim Nielsen, Sacramento County Sheriff Scott Jones, Kings County Sheriff David Robinson, Kern County Sheriff Donny Youngblood is available here: https://youtu.be/C3WvU87Nb00

Anderson’s op-ed that explains how this bill protects felons from being deported was published in the San Diego Union-Tribune on Saturday: http://www.sandiegouniontribune.com/opinion/commentary/sd-utbg-sanctuary-state-bill-anderson-20170310-story.html
